Americano is a classic cocktail that is the predecessor of the Negroni and consists of equal parts of Campari and sweet vermouth.
History of Americano
Americano cocktail was first served in Milan in Caffè Campari in 1860s, owned by Gaspare Campari, a well known Italian drinks manufacturer known for selling his bitter aperitif throughout Italy.
While being a known drink, Americano gained most of its popularity after being mentioned in Ian Felming’s “Casino Royale” novel in 1953 (similar to Vesper Martini).
